Question:
Can I run the same size 14 ply trailer tire with a 10 ply trailer tire on the same trailer
asked by: Rusty M
Expert Reply:
If the tires are the same size then that matters more than the ply rating, however, we do recommend running the same exact tires on your trailer as that will give you the best performance and most consistent tread wear.
For example, you can technically use the Provider Load Range E (10 Ply) # TR23516E with the Provider Load Range G (14 Ply) # TTWPRG235R16 but since they have slightly different properties when it comes to construction (one is more heavy-duty) you will end up experiencing a difference in ride quality as they will wear differently.
Only do this in an emergency situation to get from the site where you changed the tire to the nearest tire shop to get a properly rated tire.
