Expert Reply:
The old Reese V-5 weight distribution system is not rated by the vehicle. It will be compatible with vehicles and trailers determined by the loaded tongue weight of the trailer along with any any cargo behind the rear axle of the towing vehicle. I've attached an article to assist.
Other than that, you simply need a trailer hitch with the 2 inch receiver which is most common and rated for weight distribution system use. Your specific WD system will have a minimum and maximum tongue weight rating for use. There were many different weights depending on the load bars used with your V-5 system.
Your system is too old for replacement head or spring bars. I've linked all our systems and replacement parts as we do have hangers and shanks as well as chains that are still available for your system.

Hi Jason, I was reading Henry H. comments about an old model Reese V-5 equalizer hitch. I have 4 spring bars, 2 have never been used. I had the original hitch head stolen and the second one was modified and can’t be used with spring bars anymore. I recently bought a travel trailer and need an equalizer hitch for it. I am now looking for another Reese hitch head since I have the rest of the gear. It is a 10,000 lb with 1,000 lb hitch weight. Would you know where I might be able to buy one? In a worst case scenario, I would put my old Reese V-5 gear up for sale. Look forward to your reply. Thanks, John
