Question:

Hi. I am looking to buy a tow bar for my 2000 Jeep wrangler. It has a factory installed front U channel bumper. The type of tow bar I am interested in is the Falcon II Roadmaster. I have two questions: 1. All of the articles I have read about this tow bar and brackets is that they are towed by, and mounted on a motor home. I have a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup, and am planning to purchase a Camper for the truck. Will this tow bar and brackets work for my tow vehicle? 2. Are the brackets easy to install, or should I have an experienced person install them? Thank you

Okay, so let's start with the simple answer about compatibility - yes, you can use the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 with your 2000 Jeep Wrangler so long as your Wrangler has the appropriate base plates. For this I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521424-5 which the Falcon 2 is compatible with and will fit your U-Channel (also called a double tube) bumper.

As for the motorhome aspect, dinghy towing (flat towing) is traditionally done with motorhomes, but so long as you have the towing capacity you can flat tow with a Ram 2500.

The brackets, which I believe is the base plate kit you are referring to, are something that do take some know-how so if you should do it or not really depends on your comfort level with automotive work. If you haven't done anything similar to this before I recommend having a professional do it.
