We recently purchased our new truck with OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package and are thinking to buy a new hitch. We really like this BandW Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Dual Jaw - 18,000 lbs. Will a Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package - 25,000 lbs or a Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package - 25,000 lbs fit with a BandW Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Dual Jaw - 18,000 lbs?

Yes. You can use the B&W Patriot Slider # BWRVK3270 with either the Reese Rail Adapter # RP30154 or the Demco # DM6099, which utilize your OEM prep package on the 2017 Ram 3500 to give you industry standard base rails to mount a 5th wheel hitch. Both of these rail kits will drop into your factory pucks for easy installation and removal.

With that being said, you may also want to consider the B&W Companion # BWRVK3670 which provides you with a much more high quality 5th wheel hitch that will mount directly into the OEM prep package on your 2017 Ram 3500 - no adapters needed. The Companion has 1" thick jaws that provide a much stronger connection with the king pin head compared to the 3/4" thick jaws on the Patriot, so you're gaining towing capacity and security. Both heads are fully articulating and will allow for easy hookup and will do a good job at limiting trailer chucking.

You really can't go wrong with either one of these B&W products, which are arguably the best towing products on the market and made in the U.S.A.; plus, they both come with a limited lifetime warranty so you know your investment is protected for as long as you're towing a 5th wheel trailer.
