Question:
I,m looking at buying a 2006 chevy Colorado with a manual trans. Do I have to remove fuses and do other things or am I better to buy a different truck with a manual trans that is easier to tow?

According to Roadmaster, no fuses will need removal. Your truck is capable of being easily flat towed ONLY if it's a 4x4 model. Otherwise, modifications like a driveshaft disconnect will be required for a 2WD model. You can find more information about a disconnect via a Google search. The disconnects I looked at cost close to $ 1000.00, so you might want to look at a different truck if it's not a 4x4.
If your truck is a 4x4 model, or if you decide to install a driveshaft disconnect, you'll need a tow bar, base plates, safety cables, a wiring harness, a supplemental braking system and possibly a high/low hitch adapter to flat tow your truck.
For a tow bar, you can't go wrong with the Roadmaster Falcon 2, part # RM-520. The Falcon 2's self aligning design means that you can hitch up the vehicle to the tow bar even if it isn't perfectly lined up behind the motorhome. For a base plate kit, use # 3122-1 and the # RM-643 safety cables.
For wiring, the Roadmaster # RM-15267 Diode kit is the most popular for your vehicle. Once it's hardwired into the Colorado's taillight circuits, it's very easy to use. Plug it in and off you go. The best braking system will depend on whether you plan on holding on to the truck for awhile. If so, a permanently installed system like the Roadmaster Invisibrake, part # RM-8700 would work well. If you like to switch up the vehicle pretty frequently, a portable solution that is easily swapped from vehicle to vehicle like the Roadmaster # RM-9400 Even Brake would be an excellent choice.
You'll want the towbar to sit between 3 inches plus or minus of level while towing, if it's out of that range you'll need a high/low adapter to put it within that range. I'll link you to our selection of high/low adapters.
I'll also link to the install video for the base plates and some help articles about flat towing that you might find informative.
