Testing The Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator
Published 12/06/2019 >
Question:
Our 2010 Titanium Fifth Wheel has the electric over hydraulic brake system. Recently the EH actuator will run but the brakes will not activate including the emergency release. We believe the actuator has gone out but we arent certain. Is there any way to test the actuators pressure or to test if working properly?

Yes, you have a couple of ways to test the Dexter DX Series Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator # K71-651.
The first test to try is to connect the white wire to the negative post of the battery. Then connect the black wire to the positive post on the battery. The unit may click but should not run. If it does run, it is a bad unit and needs to be replaced.
The other is to leave the white wire connected to the negative post on the battery and connect the yellow wire to the positive post on the battery. The unit should run. If it does not, the unit is bad and needs to be replaced.
If the acuator was purchased within the past 2 years, there is a warranty available on the # K71-651 if you have the serial number of the unit and contact Dexter for a replacement if needed. Included are additional video resources as well.
