Updated 08/07/2025 | Published 07/10/2025

Question:

Good afternoon! I need help selecting a Kodiak disc brake system for commercial transport that runs approximately 10,000 miles per month. Currently, my trailer is equipped with three 8,000 lb Lippert axles with the following specifications: • Stud size: 9/16” • Wheel size: 17.5” • Bolt pattern: 8 on 6.5 • Hydraulic brake assembly: 12-1/4” x 3-3/8”, 4-bolt mount • Compatible with 8K Dexter and Lippert axles • Electric-hydraulic brake actuator: Hydrastar, 1200 PSI I would like to upgrade to a Kodiak disc brake system. Could you please help me find the right configuration that fits my current setup? Thank you in advance!

Hey Nakit, thanks for all of the details on your setup. It's pretty rare we get that much info but it is really helpful. So the Kodiak disc brake kit you would want is the # KOD67VR which covers everything you are needing and matches everything as well. You'll need three sets of this since you have a triple axle.

Since disc brake setups require higher PSIs than what you have (1,600 psi) you'd also need to replace your actuator with the # HBA16.

Hey Nakit, how did the installation of the Kodiak disc brake system go for your trailer? I'm curious to know if the new setup with the higher PSI actuator worked well for your needs. Let me know, as it could really help others in a similar situation!
