Replacement Switch and Motor Options for Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Struggling to Lift

Question:
I noticed that one of the reviews someone mentioned a high speed option. Which one has this option for comparison? I am replacing the motor, which is only a year old, because it barely lifts the heavy tongue weight of my 2004 Thor California Tahoe 37’. I will replace the switch as well to which I ask, which part number switch is recommended. Is there any other upgrade that I should consider? Not sure what to look for when inspecting/evaluating other parts in the system, such as the landing gear. Thanks in advance

Replacement electric landing gear motors are available in either standard, high speed, or heavy duty options. If what you have on there now is a standard motor and it is really struggling, your best option is to go with a heavy duty (higher capacity) motor, like # LG-196308. This motor has a weight capacity of 6,500 lbs and right around the same speed (5,430 rpm) as the standard version, # LG-142178, which is only rated for 5,500 lbs and 5,500 rpm.
A high speed motor, like # LC141893, has a 7,140 rpm speed rating, but only a 5,000 lb capacity. Therefore, I would not recommend using it, since weight is your main concern.
The Replacement Switch for Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear is part # LG-145236. I recommend checking/testing the battery that powers your motor. You could have it tested at any local auto parts store to determine if that may be causing poor motor performance since a weak battery will certainly have this impact.
Lastly, if the motor currently struggling is already a heavy duty motor, your next best solution is to convert your single motor system to a dual motor one by replacing your follow leg with another lead leg that will then have its own gear box and motor. If you'd like to go this route, let me know which model your landing gear system is, I'll be happy to make the correct recommendations for those parts.
If you click on the provided link, it will take you to our selection of Stromberg Carlson landing gear kits. Assuming that is the brand you have, this can help you identify your system.
