Question:
I want to install a trailer hitch on my 2020 Ford Explorer. Will this prevent the hands-free liftgate option from working?

Expert Reply:
The etrailer hitch # e29YR will not prevent the liftgate sensors from sensing movement. However, the sensors behind the center of the bumper will not work once the hitch is installed. This means you'll need to wave your foot under the vehicle a few inches left or right of center in order for the sensors to pick up the movement.
If you'll be towing, you'll need a few other items to complete your towing system, a trailer wiring harness, part # 118599. You'll also need a ball mount and the correctly sized trailer ball. The etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit, part # 989900 would include 2 different ball mounts of differing rises/drops and a 1-7/8 and a 2 inch trailer ball so you'll be covered for any eventuality. The hitch pin/clips are also included.
