Question:

Hi...I want to install the RM 1259-109 rear sway bar on my short class A motorhome instead of the RM 1259-108 because the diameter is quite a bit larger with the 109 and therefore sway is reduced about 30 more with the 109 than the 108. Your folks at e-trailer as well as the manufacturer itself Roadmaster say to install the 108 on my unit instead of the 109. But I am pretty much convinced that the 109 would work just as well. What is the actual reason that the 108 must be used instead of the 109? One of the manufacturers reps said the 109 was slightly wider in width than the 108 1/4 inch wider but I cant believe the chassis frame rail width is any different on a 30 1/2 long motorhome than a 33 foot long motorhome. The manufacturer also said that all the mounting hardware was the same on the 109 and 108. Please advise if I can go with the 109. Also I am wondering if the large metal box component attached to the drivers side frame just ahead of the rear axle it seems to be braking related in the photos is possibly in the way when installing either of the sway bars, please advise what it is, and if it is a problem with the install?? I have a 2004 Newmar Scottsdale on a 2003 w-22 Workhorse chassis. It is a short class A.

According to my research the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar part # RM-1259-109 will install on the 2004 Newmar Scottsdale that is on a 2003 W-22 Workhorse chassis. The Newmar Scottsdale from my research is 33-1/2 ft so according to Roadmaster you will not have any issues installing the sway bar. If the motor home was shorter than 33 ft the sway bar would not fit properly and you would need part # RM-1259-108.

The metal box in the photo does not interfere with the installation location as far as Roadmaster can tell but I would need a photo of the front half of the box to make sure the shackles will go on easily. If you can send that photo I can assist further.
