How To Upgrade the Trailer Hitch On a Class C Thor Motorhome

Question:
Can a Class IV hitch be installed on my 2011 Thor Four Winds 23u motorhome? It currently has a 5,000 lb hitch with 500 lb tongue weight. I want to pull a 2 horse trailer that loaded weighs about 4,700 lbs but has a tongue weight of roughly 700 lbs. Thanks,

In order to replace the trailer hitch on a motorhome you will need to go with a universal hitch as they do not offer bolt-on options for this. I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 41990-07 or part # 41990-16 which can be bolted/welded to the trailer frame rails. The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver then has a 16,000 lb weight capacity so it will be plenty for your horse trailer.
