Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, the brakes were adjusted according to this video, maybe even a little on the tight side. Sorry should have mentioned in the original post. What can I try next?

You didn't mention adjusting the brakes so I believe that is where your problem lies as this is a very common problem. You want to tighten the brake assemblies so that there is a light drag on the hub/wheel as you turn it otherwise the brakes will feel pretty weak.
