What is the best route to tow a 5th wheel with a 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon Ram Box that doesn’t have a 5th wheel or a gooseneck prep from factory? Is it best to install the prep for either a gooseneck or a 5th wheel then get a 5th wheel that either works with the gooseneck ball or just the 5th wheel? Does the oem prep limit options? Is it best to get the prep from mopar or is best to just buy aftermarket?

In order to tow a 5th wheel trailer with a 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon that has the RamBoxes you will need a very specific setup which does not involve the factory prep package but rather an above bed fixed 5th wheel hitch and rotating pin box. The reason for this is that the RamBoxes will come into contact with a standard pin box unless this was changed out with a rotating option.
I recommend the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs # RP30928 with the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit part # C16427-204 and the Sidewinder Wedge # RP44FR.
The rotating pin boxes are model specific so I will need to know what model you have now or obtain (sticker on side) in order to offer a replacement for this. The Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret part # RP61422 is the most common and works in place of a Lippert 1621 pin box.
