Fifth Wheel Hitch that Can be Used with 2022 Ram 2500 with Ram Box and Sidewinder Pin Box

Question:

need a fifth wheel hitch the will fit 2022 2500 rambox with oem puck below bed and resse elite airborne/sidewinder pin box. towing less then 14k. i have a m25 oem install but you all are saying it will not work with the reese sidewinder.

You are on the right track, but yes the M25 will not work with a Sidewinder as the jaws and head design tend to fail pretty quick when used with one. So your best option is the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3600.This will allow you to use the Sidewinder pin box which is only way to tow since the truck has the Ram Boxes.

Hi Jameson, what about in the case of a B&w turnover ball and accompanying B&w sliding companion hitch adapter? Is there a sidewinder type hitch adapter that will allow me to use this combination and clear the rails of my rambox?

@DylanH No since you can't use a Companion hitch that attaches with the center goooseneck post with a Sidewinder as that's too much twisting torque on the single attachment point. Only solution is standard fifth wheel rails and the Sidewinder.

@JamesonC I’ve got a 2022 Ram 2500 with Ramboxes, also have a b&w slider hitch that goes into the b&w gooseneck ball. And it seems we can’t get the turning radius out of this truck with the Rambox like the old truck if you could help that would be great.

@BenM I kind of have bad news. You will need to remove the gooseneck hitch you have now and install a set of above bed rails so that you can install a fixed hitch in them and then you'll have to swap the pin box of your camper with a Sidewinder. The Ram Boxes make your bed rails to narrow that the only way to tow a fifth wheel is if the pivot point is raised up which is what only a Sidewinder can do. So I would need to know what camper you have so that we can see if there is a Sidewinder that fits it.
