While you can add a second battery to power lights, this is going to require a second, 12 volt auxiliary battery; this is the same concept you were thinking of but a breakaway system battery isn't going to have the power or amp hours needed for your lights.

Doing this is fairly simple as you will just need to start by mounting a battery box to your trailer frame. Then to charge it, you can use a separate 12 volt charger such as the CTEK MULTI US 3300 12-Volt Universal Battery Charger with Pulse Maintenance # CTEK56353, which plugs into a standard outlet when you are in between trips.

The other option you have is going to be more costly, but offers the utmost convenience, which is a battery box with a solar charger, the TorkLift PowerArmor Solar Single Locking Battery Box # TLA7720RS.

This battery box has its own mounting brackets, locks to protect your battery, and has a solar panel so you do not have to continually re-charge your battery. It's the most worry-free and simplest option for what you are looking to do which is why I recommend it.
