Could you use a clevis hitch where the ball hitch goes or thats not what its made for?

We do have some options for you to tow a trailer with a clevis mount but the Buyers Products Adjustable Tri-Ball Mount # 3371802225 that you referenced doesn't have provisions for that.

Instead you can either use the Convert-A-Ball # CAB-6W which comes with 3 different hitch ball sizes plus the clevis or the Curt # C45008 which has 2 hitch balls and the clevis but you need a shank like part # C17100 to mount it to for adjustability.

From the pin hole to the end of the shank of the #C17100 measures 3 inches and then overall length would be 12 inches. 3 inches is a very common dimension for the pin hole but it's not totally uncommon to see 4 inches.
