If I had a 5th wheel installed in the factory bed and later swapped the factory bed for a flat truck bed, can the same brackets be used?

That's a good question, but standard bed trucks and flat bed trucks will not share the same brackets or even the same 5th wheel hitch. A flat bed truck will not have brackets available at all so you will need to install the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Flatbed Trucks # BWGNRK1500 with B&W Companion Flatbed Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3050.

A standard truck will require base rails and an install kit with a standard 5th wheel hitch, and if you let me know the year, make, model, and bed size of your truck I'd be happy to recommend one for you.
