Installation of E-Trailer Hitch # e98842 on 2015 Ford Transit T-250 Van

Question:

Received my hitch yesterday installed it this morning Everything was perfect Until I realized that I pre threaded the for hex bolts too deep and now they wont tighten up I was only able to torc one of the 4 hex bolts..... I know the instructions said to only pre thread halfway...Any suggestions would be awesome and how to correct this thank you Brent

The good news is that this isn't the first time that this has happened with the installation of Trailer Hitch # e98842 . I talked to Curt and they mentioned that this can happen if you end up tapping the bolts in too far.

Unfortunately the only way to get these bolts out if you can't back them out with a wrench is to either tap them out from above (which there may not be a place to access from above), or drill them out. You may want to cut the heads of the bolts off before drilling just to be sure that you don't cut into the edge of the holes and make them larger. You should be able to use a regular 1/2" bolt and nut that is rated Grade 8 to install the hitch after you've drilled out the existing bolts.
