Recommended Transmission Cooler on 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD for Towing Up Mountains
Updated 09/13/2019 | Published 09/12/2019 >
Question:
My factory cooler is not up to the task of towing up 10,000 ft mountains. What cooler would you recommend for towing 7500 lb with the 6L90E automatic transmission and 10,000 FT elevation?

For your 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD with the 6.0L engine I highly recommend the Derale Dyno-Cool Remote Cooler with Fan # D12743. Since traditional aftermarket coolers still rely on airflow for optimal performance, a unit like this one that features an integrated fan is the best solution for applications like yours since you likely aren't driving too fast up and down those hills.
This unit will do a great job of supplementing the factory cooler to keep temperatures down and since it has the mentioned fan it can really be mounted anywhere. It measures 16-5/8 inches wide, 10-1/4 inches tall, and 3-5/8 inches deep. I have attached the written installation instructions that you can check out as well.
