How Does the Valterra Shower Drain Install?

Does it go on top of shower base or bottom?

The Valterra Shower Drain # A01-2012VP will sit on top of the shower base and either thread into a 1-1/2 inch P-trap or, using the included collar, will press into a 1-3/4 inch pipe that doesn't have any threads. You may want to add some silicone caulk like # 0160297 to make sure that you've got a good seal on the drain.
