Question:
Hello, I just purchased a 2012 Rockwood 5th wheel, 31ft.It came with a reese revolution pinbox. I see it has 2 3/4 bolts to keep the pinbox from pivoting, so I can still use my superglide, right? Now, I have a 4100 superglide, but the capture plate got traded with the old unit. The revolution has a wedge on it, can I use that wedge or do you have a specific one for my hitch, or do I need another capture plate. I have no clue, all I know is I dont want to have to buy a whole new hitch setup. It would be so easy just to put a wedge on the pinbox and not have to deal with a capture plate. Thanks

I spoke with my contact for Reese and he said it is not recommended to use your Reese Revolution pin box with your SuperGlide. It is possible to lockout the turret of your pin box and remove the wedge allowing the pin box to rotate at the hitch, however, if the sidewinder sits below the top of your bed rails, then the pin box can hit and damage your truck bed while sliding or pivoting. You will also have to attach a capture plate to your pin box to allow the pin box to rotate at the hitch. Welding or drilling new holes to install the cover plate will void the manufacturers warranty.
It is recommended to get a hitch compatible with your Reese pin box like the Reese M5, # RP30928. The wedge currently on your pin box should be a universal type wedge for Reese hitches. If you want to send me the year, make and model of your tow vehicle, then I can choose the correct install kit for you.
