Using Weight Distribution System on Vehicle with TSC (Trailer Sway Control)
Updated 08/27/2019 | Published 08/26/2019 >
Question:
I have a 2015 JGC with trailer sway control. I purchased an Anderson Weight Distribution Anti Sway set up and the manual states if the towing vehicle has TSC it must be disabled when using Anderson Anti Sway as the two systems may work against each other and actually create sway. The only way i believe to disable this is by putting the ESC into partial off mode disabling the TSC. Other concern is caravan trailer also has ALKO anti sway installed. Would this be an issue with the Anderson as well working against each other. Thanks

We don't currently carry Andersen weight distribution systems so I'm not overly familiar with them, but I'm not sure why either the TSC on your Jeep or the AL-KO system on the caravan would negatively affect the system's performance. Both integrated anti-sway systems simply send power to the brakes on the Jeep or trailer when it senses sway to help quickly reduce the side-to-side movement. This shouldn't have any effect on the friction/tension that a weight distribution system uses to fight sway.
If anything an aftermarket weight distribution system with sway control like your Anderson or the Fastway # FA94-00-0600 you were looking at would only improve these overall functions and help to put less stress on the vehicle. It should essentially work to stop sway before your Jeep recognizes it, thus preventing the Jeep's TSC or the AL-KO system from having to work as much.
With that being said if Anderson states in the manual that it needs to be disabled you can do this on your Jeep by simply putting the ESC into "partial off" mode like you described. This disables just the Trailer Sway Control functions of the ESC system.
