What Does Rise and Drop Mean on Ball Mount

What does the term rise mean?I know drop but not rise. Thanks

When it comes to the listed specs of a ball mount like the B&W Tow & Stow # BWTS20049B you were looking at the listed rise simply refers to the height from the top of the shank up to the ball platform when it's in the rise position. Most ball mounts including the Tow & Stow can be physically flipped so that the drop instead becomes a rise. This helps to keep a trailer level when you're hooking up to a tow vehicle that features a higher rear end.
I have attached a couple images of this particular ball mount that hopefully clarify this. The Tow & Stow has a maximum drop of up to 7 inches or a maximum rise of up to 7-1/2 inches.
