Question:

I have a 2006 Roadtrek Adventurous that has a Fan-Tastic fan, Model#4000BT, in it. I have been told by Dometic that that model should be replaced with 3350 fan, but I was considering this MaxxAir 5100 instead. Can you tell me whether that will fit in my current opening?

Yes, it looks like your existing Fan-Tastic Fan model 4000BT is a standard 14" wide x 14" long roof vent so the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat part # MA00-05100K would fit the opening for your old vent as long as the roof is 1-1/8" to 6-1/2" thick. I have attached an installation video for your reference.

I recommend using the Roof Vent Installation Kit - Sealant, Butyl Tape, Screws - White # 344270KITW which will give you the sealant and screws needed.
