Will Malone Kayak Foam Block Fit TracRac G2 Crossbars

Question:

Hi. Will the Malone MPG159 foam block fit on the T-Rac G2 crossbar? The dimensions appear to be somewhat tight. 2. How is this installed?

Malone doesn't list a maximum crossbar size for the Foam Kayak Block # MPG159 so I went out to our warehouse to actually test fit the block onto a TracRac crossbar, which is indeed larger than standard crossbars. I found that the block fits perfectly with even some room to spare, so there wasn't any issue getting it onto the bar.

The foam block simply gets wrapped around the crossbar using the pre-cut gap on the underside. It's simply a matter of manipulating the bottom lip with your hands to get it around the bar and then slide it to where it's needed for your kayak.

For a set that includes two blocks and all the needed tie-down straps you can use the Malone # MPG152.
