Question:

I just purchased a 2019 Cardinal 3456RLX. It did not come with a rear hitch. I contacted Forest River and they said that the hitch number to fit it is Lippert Components # 240220. I see that this item is out of stock. 3 questions. 1 When are you expecting to have them in stock? 2 Is there a different one that may work? 3 I did a quick measurement and I came up with 71 inch between the mounts. It looks like the hitch is only 68 1/2 wide. Is there a different bracket to go with it? Forest River said that this is the hitch to fit it. I attached a photo of the mounts that is below the frame. The Lippert 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver for I-Beam Campers and Trailers # LC240220 you referenced gets ordered as customers order it so there isn't a specific date I can offer. However, to answer your question, if Forest River said this is a fit then that is not something I would be able to discount. Having said that, this hitch is designed to fit trailer frames with 68-3/8" between the I-beams.

There is definitely another option, the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703 which is designed to fit box frame, C-channel frame, or I-beam frames so it will fit your Forest River Cardinal. It has adjustable brackets which are bolted or welded on and this is the option I recommend going with.
