Question:
I have a 2018 GMC 3500 with the 6 1/2 foot bed and factory prep fifth wheel option. Does the BWRVB3700 BandW replacement base place the head directly over the axle? If so how much adjustment is there in front of and behind the axle?

Expert Reply:
When the Replacement Base for B&W Companion OEM Chevy 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVB3700 is installed you'll be able to adjust the position of the head center to being right above the truck's rear axle to just slightly forward by an inch or so. It will be mainly right above the rear axle or slightly forward with no option for slightly behind.
That said, since you have a short bed truck you'll want the slider base version instead so that you have the needed clearance to make tight turns. For that the entire hitch is part # BWRVK3770 and just the base is # BWRVB3770. This will allow you to slide the hitch backward a total of 12 inches.
