How To Convert Older Style B and W Companion to Modern Companion
Updated 07/10/2019 | Published 07/09/2019 >
Question:
I have an older model, circa 2008, BandW companion 5th wheel. The base mount for the 5th wheel hitch bolts with two U bolts to a square hitch post that takes the place of the ball gooseneck hitch. The U bolt are a square bolt, not round and are 1/2 inch diameter, 4and5/8inch tall, 3and3/4inch wide - from outside to outside and have aand1/2 inches of course threads. I believe the bolts are a minimum of a grade 5 steel. Where can I locate these bolts? Im having a real problem trying to locate them on line, particularly with the BandW website. Please help!!!

Helpful Expert Reply:
The best option to modernize your older B and W Companion is to switch out the base to part # BWRVB3500 so you will not have to deal with finding the correct u-bolts in the future if you need them because they are no longer available.
You would just use your current head on the new base.
