Question:
Looking for Dexter 8-286 Hub with 10x11/2 Brakes. The axle I have is a Dexter 2500 LBS. Model 2500 S.L.R. 12.8 Ser NO. C 1896417.

I reached out to my contact at Dexter but they are having a hard time pinpointing the exact hubs your trailer is equipped with using the information you provided. The 8-286 number you mentioned actually refers to a 9,000 pound hub, which would certainly be out of place on and likely wouldn't fit your 2,500 pound axle.
Are there any other markings on the hub at all that you can give me?
If not your only option will be to pull one of the hubs and check for the inner and outer bearing numbers. This will help us verify a replacement that will fit your existing spindles. The bearing numbers should be stamped right inside the bearings themselves but if they are too worn to read you can also take a few measurements along the spindle with a digital caliper like # PTW80157. I have attached an image to assist.
If you can tell me the bearing numbers you find or the measurements you take I will be happy to recommend the correct replacement hub assembly.
