Hi All. Sorry if youve already answered this question already. Ive a 2011 Honda Accord and need to carry two possibly 3 bikes. Two of which are mountain bikes. The other is a light weight ladies bike. What would you recommend I use to carry these bikes. I wouldnt be travelling more than 4 hours away in the New England area. in regards to platform versus non platform. Ive a 2011 Honda Accord and wonder which is better for holding two bikes. On the non platform where is most of the weight concentrated when the bikes are on.....is it the back hood? Versus the rack with the platform. is the weight more evenly distributed? And what is the weight difference between the non and platformed? Thanks.

I can help you find a bike rack for your 2011 Honda Accord. With either a trunk mounted hanging rack or trunk mounted platform rack most of the weight is on the trunk because that's where the bike rack attaches. However, the racks do come with support straps that attach to the top of the vehicle as well so that helps with support.

To carry 3 bikes on the Honda Accord Couple or Sedan, I recommend Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier part # TH911XT because the weight capacity is 105 lbs compared to 90 lbs with the other racks. If your Honda Accord is a Crosstour, I recommend the Yakima Hangout 3 bike rack part # Y02638. The weight limit for this rack is 90 lbs. With a hanging rack you will need two adapter bars for the ladies bikes part # 64005. The adapter bar will give the bike frame a horizontal level surface to hang from on the rack.

For a trunk mounted platform rack, I recommend The Thule OutWay 2-bike platform rack part # TH65JV for the Sedan or Coupe. The weight capacity of the platform rack is less than the hanging style. It only allows for 66 lbs of bikes. The biggest advantage for trunk mount platform rack is being able to load and unload the bikes at a more manageable height instead of lifting them up to hang them. There are not any 3 bike racks available that are trunk mount. If your 2011 Honda Accord is the Crosstour the there is not a trunk mount platform bike rack available.

The ultimate best way to carry bikes on a 2011 Honda Accord is to install a hitch on the vehicle and use a platform hitch mounted rack. If you are interested in a hitch, if you let me know your vehicle style (Coupe, Sedan or Crosstour) I can make more recommendations.
