Is it Okay to Swap Pins for Auxiliary and Brake Controller for a 7-Way Connector on a 1997 Ram
Updated 06/25/2019 | Published 06/23/2019 >
Question:
ok so I have a 97 ram 15, wiring a full harness from scratch and I have a pollack 7 pin plug for gm.. can use this on my ram? Im asking because it has one large pin #2 position yellow 9 gauge wire which is aux on gm. for dodge its blue trailer break smaller wire. so would it be a problem to run aux power on another pin? they are all small pins.

When wiring your Pollak 7-Way like part # PK11898 it is really important to connect your functions like what you can see in the attached photo instead of going by colors or slight differences in wire sizing. The exception to this is if your trailer is wired differently then it would be advisable to wire the connector on your 1997 Ram to match your trailer. Otherwise every time you connect to a trailer you are going to experience problems as the functions from your pickup won't match those for your trailer.
