Solution for MaxxFan Roof Lid that Stopped Opening with Switch

Updated 07/01/2020 | Published 06/21/2019

Question:

Hi! Have a 2016 Crossroads Elevation 5th wheel with 2 maxxfan roof vents. Control panel on the bath wall has buttons for: Fan, Keep at 70deg, Plus, Minus, and the Open/close. Problem with this fan is the Auto open quit working. I hear a beep with either the Fan or the Open/Close buttons. The fan does come on and I can get on a ladder and use the Manuel twist knob to open and close. I dont hear anything trying to run like gears or such so that kind of tells me its not a motor to mechanical problem. Is it possible something burned out to not let the motor do its job? Thanks for any assistance!

Sounds like the lift motor needs to be replaced as it's no longer able to raise the vent lid. For that you'd want the part # MA10-20270. Since you are able to lift the lid manually it wouldn't be the operator. If this were the problem it would either make noise like you mentioned or wouldn't allow you to manually lift it.

My max fan will not close when using the close button not a remote control setup. Rain sensor also does not work. I have to close manually. Opens just fine.

We do have the replacement rain sensor with part # MA34FR. The issues with the lid not closing at all (except for manually) points to a bad circuit board. We have these as well with part # MA10A21275K.
