The rain sensor itself on the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent # MA00-04500K that you referenced is located at the far right corner away from the lid assembly on the fan. I have attached an image pointing out the sensor that you can check out as well.

When the sensor detects rain (or snow) it will automatically close the vent and shut the fan off to prevent the interior of your RV or trailer from getting wet. This means you can leave the vent open and running without having to worry about what Mother Nature has in store.
