Question:
Hi I would like to purchase a Malone MicroSport Trailer XT. You say that the hitch ball must be at 18 inch high. I cannot find anywhere a clear explanation of what does that mean. Top of the ball, center of the ball at 18. If it is not at 18inch I have a nissan altima with draw tight hitch does that mean it becomes dangerous to have a microsport? Thank you for your help Dragos Bulgar

What that means is that the Malone MicroSport trailer, part # MPG460G, is level when the bottom of the coupler is 18 inches off the ground.
To tow the trailer level you need a ball mount with a rise. Park your Nissan Altima on level ground and measure from the ground the inner top of the receiver hitch. When we installed the Draw-Tite hitch on an Altima we measured 10-1/4 inches. You'll likely be close to this but measure your car so you're sure. Then subtract your measurement from the Malone's 18 inches. The difference is the amount of rise you need.
If your Altima's hitch is about the same as when we measured we don't actually have a ball mount that fits the Class I Draw-Tite hitch and reaches the MircroSport's 18 inches. The closest we have is the Curt # C45028 which has 5-3/8 inches of rise but that's still okay because you don't need to be perfectly level. We recommend you get within 3 inches of level and this should be enough for you.
Along with the ball mount you need a hitch ball, part # C40018, and a pin and clip, part # F-4.
Finally, if you don't already have it you need trailer wiring on the Altima to power the MicroSport's lights. I recommend a custom fit harness part # 118470. The Tekonsha harnesses have a higher quality converter box that generally outlasts the other brands.
