Can Cradles on Thule Apex XT 5-Bike Rack be Adjusted for Different Sized Bikes

Question:
Can you adjust the spacing between the cradles on the support arms? Moving them closer together or farther apart to better accommodate the bikes you typically transport?.?. It looks possible, as there is a small screw on the cradle that looks to lock them in place. Could this be loosened with an allen wrench to move them?

Expert Reply:
The cradles on the Thule Apex XT # TH9026XT are actually set at fixed points on the arms which is what the small screw is for. I confirmed this with my contact at Thule. This was actually an upgrade from the original Thule Apex as it helps to keep the cradles in place and from possibly sliding on the arms during transport. The cradles are set apart by 5-1/2" (on center) and you are supposed to alternate which way your bikes are facing. This combination should give you enough clearance for your bikes.
