Question:
what part # do i need #55244 or # C59496 mine is a automatic

Expert Reply:
The particular harness you need will depend on whether or not your 2003 Nisssan Xterra is/was already equipped with a factory 4-Way connector.
If you do not currently have a 4-Way on your vehicle then the correct harness is the Curt # C59496. This is a universal kit that includes all the components necessary to splice into the tail light circuits of your vehicle to provide you with a 4-Way trailer connector.
If you do already have the 4-Way connector and are just in need of a replacement then the Curt # C55244 that you also mentioned will be the way to go. This will plug right into the factory port under the vehicle on the passenger side to give you a brand new 4-Way.
I have attached the written installation manuals for these harnesses that you can also take a look at.
