The type of trailer wiring you'll need really depends on the trailer you plan to tow. For a vehicle like a 2015 Chevy Traverse you'd most likely only need a 4-way since this vehicle would be used to tow lighter duty trailers without brakes. That said, if you plan to tow a camper even the lighter duty campers will have brakes on them so a 7-way could be required.
Either way you'd need to start with a 4-way so for that you'd want the part # C56181 which installs easily by plugging inline with the taillights of the vehicle.
From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is one of our best selling brake controllers because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
