The brake controller port on a fifth generation 2019 Ram 1500 is located behind a trim piece on the center dash panel which I have attached a photo of for you. For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885.
The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 is extremely reliable and even if something were to happen not necessarily to the brake controller, it has diagnostic checks to help you find out what the issue is and safeguards to protect your vehicle, trailer and the controller if it were anything serious.
