Question:

kuat says max wheelbase for this rack is 47in. my bike has 48in. wheelbase. will it still work? bike has 29in wheels

Since the max wheelbase of the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH22B is 47" your bike with a 48" wheelbase won't fit but I do have a different recommendation for you.

The Kuat NV 2.0 Base # BA22B is the next step up to the Sherpa 2.0 in regards to Kuat bike racks and it is compatible with your 48" wheelbase. The NV 2.0 Base also comes with bike and rack locks, is a wheel mount platform rack, and has the tilting/folding functions along with the anti-rattle knob at the front of the base assembly. The biggest difference in appearances are the trays having a slightly different design and the NV comes in matte black as opposed to a glossy black.

The Sherpa isn't upgradable but you can upgrade the NV to a 4 bike rack with the add-on # BA02B plus you can get the bike repair stand # TDKB to easily work on your bikes.

If you are more concerned with price-point then we have the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10004 which is comparable to the Sherpa 2.0 both in price and in features.
