Does Tongue Weight of Trailer Need to be Measured After Install of Weight Distribution
Published 04/03/2019 >
Question:
I have recently rigged up a scale/lever arm to be able to properly measure tongue weight. Now I have decided to purchase a weight distribution hitch, and the tongue weight limit for a weight distribution hitch is much higher than without on the hitch on my truck. So I am confused. What is the proper way to measure tongue weight when you plan to incorporate a weight distribution hitch? At this point, I am guessing that you set the tongue weight as you normally would without the weight distribution hitch 10-15 trailer weight, then just add the weight distribution and carry on. Thank you for any tips on this,

There really isn't a need to try to determine tongue weight of a trailer after installing and setting up a weight distribution system. You want to know the tongue weight so that you can pick out the correct rated system, but beyond that you do not need to measure it again, nor is there a great way to do so.
