I reached out to the manufacturer, LaSalle Bristol, who told me the width measurement is the housing of the screen, so it is the entire unit. They did say the screens are between 1/8" and 1/4" narrower than the size says to account for tolerance. They also told me that it might be tricky for you because the bottom is narrower so it may be a good idea "to make sure the top and bottom measurement are both taken the same distance from the opening of the door."

So if you do find the distances are both 97-3/4" - within 1/8" to 1/4" then the correct screen for you would be the 97-3/4" LaSalle Bristol CrossBreeze Adjustable Toy Hauler Screen # 3441409775PBK.
