pontiac vibe gt and base model whats the differance between the two when it comes to the hitch

The only difference is that Curt has one trailer hitch that fits a 2004 Pontiac Vibe GT, part # C12221 and one trailer hitch for a 2004 Pontiac Vibe NON-GT, part # C12234 while the Draw-Tite # 24812 will fit both models.
The Draw-Tite hitch is a Class I hitch which requires the use of Class I accessories so my recommendation is to go with the option from Curt, with the right hitch depending on if you have a GT or not.
Both the Curt Trailer Hitch # C12221 (GT models) and # C12234 (non-GT models) will fit a 2004 Pontiac Vibe and each are Class II hitches, giving you more - and better - options for accessories than a Class I hitch. The only difference in capacites is that the # C12221 has a 2,500 lb towing and 250 lb tongue weight capacity compared to the 2,000 lb towing and 200 lb tongue weight capacity of the # C12234.
If you want these hitches to tow a small trailer, the correct ball mount for both trailer hitches is the Curt # C45521 which does not come with a pin; for that you would need part # F-4. For a hitch ball, the correct one will depend on the size of your trailer's coupler. You will need either 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # A-80 or 2" Hitch Ball # A-82. Then for wiring to add power to your trailer's lights I recommend the T-One Wiring Harness # 118458.
I have added links to video installs of the harness as well as both hitches on a Pontiac Vibe for you to check out.
