Why is Truck Fifth Wheel Towing Capacity Much Higher than Cargo Capacity
Question:
I am interested in getting the TGMRCK15S (Timbren) SES kit. I just watched the you tube video on installation. I noticed there was a notice to check with etrailer to see if it is OK to install on a 2019 Chevy 3500? Could you check on that?

Fifth wheel towing capacities are different from cargo weight capacities. The reason is mainly that a fifth wheel hitch essentially attaches to the frame of the truck (the strongest part of it), and the cargo capacity is more related to the weight capacity of the truck's bed. Your truck would have no problem with the weight of your fifth wheel trailer plus the cargo you mentioned adding.
