Bias Ply or Radial Tire for 13 inch Trailer Wheel

Updated 12/27/2018 | Published 12/26/2018

Question:

I have a light Tractor Supply trailer. 5x8 I typically pull it on interstates with light loads, 1000 miles round trip once every month or two. Looks like belts have failed on both tires st 135/80d13 as they are both mis-shapen see pic. Since I am replacing them anyway, I was wondering if I would be better off with radials. Thanks!

Helpful Expert Reply:

Radials are basically superior to bias-ply tires in every way so whenever available we always recommend people go that route. The closest tire size we have to what you listed is the size ST175/80R13 like the part # LHWL101. This tire has a capacity of 1,360 lbs at 50 psi and has a speed rating of 75 mph.
