Westlake Radials

This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability.

Westlake Standard Tread Close-Up

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Me and my family went on a 5000 mile round trip vacation. We encountered a lot of different road conditions without a problem and the tires are still currently being used on the camper. The only hitch I had was a very long lead time from the time of ordering the tire and the delivery. Seems like it was a couple months which was frustrating when I was trying to prepare for this trip. As you can see from the picture Montana mud aint no joke.

Review from a similar ST Radial in Trailer Tires and Wheels

I needed a matching spare tire/wheel for our new boat. Looked at etrailer, found EXACTLY what we needed at a price less than others. Blown away by the professional service! Videos of each of my products?? Who does that?? etrailer did and sent me exactly what was shown and what I wanted. Came shipped in sturdy boxes with no chance of damaged items in shipping. Arrived BEFORE promised date. Again, Who takes the time and pride to go well above an average purchase? Then follows up with me twice to ensure we are happy with them and the items? I know where to get my next needs and to get my family and friends to do the same. Well done etrailer!!

Review from a similar ST Radial in Trailer Tires and Wheels

This tire is OEM for what comes on a Columbus 5th wheel. It is not the cheap Chinese bomb that many RVer's talk about although it is made in China. I ruined my tire on a curb (rookie mistake) and wanted to match the original OEM. My 5th wheel has been in service since 2017 and these tires are doing very well. Arrived two days after I placed my order. etrailer.com to the rescue! I ordered the wheel and tire at the same time and only etrailer.com had what I needed online. Thank you etrailer!!!

The tire arrived today and it is very close i tread style to the other tires on my RV. Delivery time was very fast. Had it mounted and balanced so I am ready to put it on. This company is very easy to work with, sell a high quality product(s) and deliver when they say! Thank you!

Review from a similar ST Radial in Trailer Tires and Wheels

Last trip out with my fifth wheel, ran over a piece of metal in the road causing tire to go flat, luckily it happened right by entrance to the campground. Was able to air it up enough to get to my site without damaging rim. Put my spare on for my return trip to home but damage to my tire was too close to side wall to repair so I ordered west lake ST235/80R 16 from etrailer which is exactly the match that came on trailer. Tire came on time and perfect match to existing tire. I have had my fiver for 3 1/2 years and the west lakes seem to be holding up fine in regards to the wear. Price from etrailer was lower than any other place I checked and manufacture date stamped on tire was recent so I got a new tire instead of one that had been sitting in a wharehouse for awhile. This is the 2nd tire I have purchased from etrailer and completely satisfied with both purchases. First purchase was same tire with wheel so I had an extra spare for long trips just in case. Would recommend etrailer for prices and expert technical assistance. Happy camping.

Review from a similar ST Radial in Trailer Tires and Wheels

My last tires from etrailer lasted 3 years of daily use. Although I have yet to put many miles on these I expect excellent results. Lisa D. guided me through the selection process. This Westlake model is a better fit (205) than my previous tire (215) yet offeres the same 8-ply & D load rating. My local stores still think they don’t make radial trailer tires! I can’t recommend etrailer highly enough!

Found a match for our existing trailer tires on the website and it was shipped out the next day. Had it at the house in just a few days. Also took advantage of a few other items to be eligible for the free shipping. Didn't know an anti-wobble receiver hitch device existed, I wish I would have found that years ago. I'll definitely bookmark etrailer's web page for my next RV/Trailer need.

When a nail punctured the sidewall of my trailer tire I found myself in need of a quick replacement. With no local business able to provide an exact replacement, a web search quickly yielded information about etrailer and their quality of service. After ordering, I had the tire in a very short time and I’m back on the road! Great support, and always kept informed that my order had been placed, shipped, and delivered. Can’t ask for much more than that.

15000 miles and no problems with "G" rated Westlakes. They were installed by the OEM when we purchased the 42', 16000lb, 5th Wheel. I have added TPMS and so far, no worries. The reason we ordered (2) new tires, we had a dual leaf spring failure and the tires didn't fail, but both rubbed on the frame and we are replacing them out of caution. I've owned China Bombs on previous 5th Wheels and like many, we suffered miserably the consequences of cheap tires. We started to go with Sailuns instead, but have had such great performance with these, we decided to stay brand loyal. RAH!

Comments
Over 20 thousand miles weve slowed down our travels this year and I am still very impressed with the wear and performance these westlakes have to offer. As the saying goes, nothing last forever and I will be replacing them soon with the same tires.

I can't say anything as far as wear or vibe as I have not pulled my RV with them on. I will say that they had a 7 months old date code which is great in my book.

Comments
I have pulled my RV from Florida to Arizona with no issues.I do not see any cupping or wear. I do not cover them when parked like I probably should but I have heard the reviews of trapping the heat is just as bad a blocking the sun. Most of my RV sites keep the sun off 70 of the time so. I feel like Im going to change them out every 3 years for cheap insurance regardless.

  • Recommendations for Tires That Will fit a 12 or 13 inch Wheel and Are Rated for at Least 70 mph
Since the only tire that we have that fits a 12 inch wheel and is rated for up to 81 mph is a bias tire, part # TTWSF48012C, I recommend going with a tire that fits a 13 inch wheel. There is nothing wrong with a bias tire; it's just that radial tires will run cooler on the highway than bias tires will. The 3 tires that we have which fit a 13 inch wheel and are rated for at least 70 mph are the Provider # TTWTRTM1758013C, Contender # C17513C, and the Westlake # LHWL101. Both the Provider...

  • Can Bias-Ply And Radial Tires Be Used On Boat Trailer At Same Time
It sounds like you have a bias-ply tire (D) on one side and a radial tire (R) on the other side of your trailer. You should match the tire type on both sides of the trailer regardless of the type you go with. I recommend using radial tires on the trailer as they run cooler than bias-ply. I have attached a link to our product page for the 13 inch tires we offer. A really nice radial tire I recommend is the Westlake # LHWL101. This is a Load Range C tire and it has a maximum load capacity...

  • Radial Tire Replacement Recommendation for Size B78-13
Radial tires perform better than bias ply tires so I would recommend you replace your bias ply tires with them. A radial tire flexes more than a bias tire, giving it better ground contact, traction, stability, and tread wear. A radial tire will normally run cooler than a bias ply tire, especially when the tire is under a load. A tire that runs cooler will last longer. The best option is the part # LHWL101 which is the size you need, is a radial, has a speed rating of 75 mph, and has...

  • Trailer Tire for Use with Aluminum Viking Wheel # AX02350545BMFL
The Aluminum Viking Series Valhalla Trailer Wheel # AX02350545BMFL is a really solid choice for a trailer wheel that looks great but the tire size you have is a passenger vehicle tire and should not be used on a trailer. They aren't rated for the vertical weight trailers typically see and were designed to work with steering axles. So with this wheel you'd really need to go with a trailer tire that fits it like the # LHWL101 from Westlake which has a higher speed rating that most trailers,...

  • Recommended 13 Inch Tire for Airboat and Trailer
Due to it's excellent 5 year warranty and its 2 year complimentary roadside assistance, I'd recommend the Lionshead # LHWL101. This is a 175/80-13 Load Range C radial trailer tire which has a 1360 lb per tire/2720 lb per axle which should cover the combined weight of your air boat and trailer with no problem. The tire carries a 75 mph speed rating. If you'd like something with a higher speed rating, go with the Taskmaster Provider # TTWTRTM1758013C which provides an identical weight...
