For any trailer or motorhome system, I recommend using a surge protector to protect your trailer electronics and components from issue. For your 30 amp system I recommend at least the Camco RV Power Defender Circuit Analyzer Dogbone - 125V - 30 Amp # CAM55312 which will protect from a single surge has indicator lights of faults. This will require replacing after a surge and will not allow you to safely reconnect your system after a fault so you would be taking a risk if you reconnect.
A better option I recommend the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Protector - 30 Amp # CAM55301 which will automatically disconnect when dangerous voltage levels are detected and will reconnect when they stabilize. This gives you protection from numerous surges so it doesn't need replacing but also has the automatic reconnection so you can continue to have power when voltage stabilizes without physically needing to do anything.
Because of the investment, many people choose to secure their cables using the Camco Power Grip Cable with Lock # CAM44290. They run the cable through the handles and around the power box as needed.
