Recommendation for Adding Electric Brakes to 2004 Jayco Qwest 8U for Subaru Outback

Your 2004 Jayco Qwest had axles that had too low a capacity to add brakes originally. The easiest conversion is to replace your current axle and suspension with the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Electric Brake Hubs - Straight Spindle - 3,500 lbs # A35RS545E. This is a universal fit axle replacement that comes with the suspension, the EZ Lube axles and the brake assembly along with drums. I've attached an article to assist with parts to convert your current axle if you prefer, but it will require having a profession add brake flanges and adding the hub/drum and brake assemblies. Then you will wire the brake assemblies using the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box - 10' Long # 277-000141 and # 10-1-1 wire to the brake magnets. Then if your Outback doesn't have a 7-way, you will use the # ETBC7 Kit along with a brake controller like # 90195 which is our most popular option. If you don't already have the 4 way trailer connector, then you will also need # 118467 which is a fit for 2010 through 2019 Outback Wagons.

Then you will wire the brake assemblies using the 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # HS381-9000 and # 10-1-1 wire to the brake magnets.

Then if your Outback doesn't have a 7-way, you will use the # ETBC7 Kit along with a brake controller like # 90195 which is our most popular option. If you don't already have the 4 way trailer connector, then you will also need # 118467 which is a fit for 2010 through 2019 Outback Wagons.

Mounting the brake flanges will be a few hours of a professional welder's time at whatever their rate is because the placement will require a jig. Then you will need to add the parts, so I will need to have you pull a hub to give me the bearing numbers so I can get you a list of parts if there is an axle that will fit. There is an inner bearing an outer bearing and a grease seal that will all have numbers I will need to help. They are printed on the face of each part. If you can't get those numbers then you will need to measure the spindle with a digital caliper like # PTW80157. I've attached a photo and some videos to assist.
