Question:

Thanks for the response to my question I guess if the 2004 Subaru outback can be flat towed this will be the vehicle I use. You wanted to let you know so you could yell me what I would need to do . By the way the Subaru is a 6 cylinder H.3 automatic.

I looked up the online versions of the owner's manuals for your Forte and your Outback Wagon. It looks like the 2013 Kia Forte can be towed with a Tow Dolly but the 2004 Subaru Outback Wagon can be flat towed. You will want to verify this with your copies of the owner's manuals or local dealer.

I couldn't find an online manual for your 1988 Dodge Dakota so you would need to look that up or contact your local dealer for info on that vehicle.

If you let me know which of the 2 vehicles I mentioned above that you would like to tow I can let you know what parts you would need to do so.

If your 2004 Subaru Outback is a Wagon then there are products for you to flat tow it. If you have a Sedan then there are none and you will need to use a tow dolly like part # RM-2050-1 and add a connector like part # PK11604 or # PK12706. For flat towing a Wagon you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. The base plate kit that you will need is the Roadmaster # 915-1 which pairs nicely with the Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 and Safety Cables # RM-643, both of which are rated for up to 6,000 lbs. Then for wiring use the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 and the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR for braking. These are easy to use and do not take long at all to get setup. Most flat towing setups require a high-low adapter for the tow bar to remain level while towing. Be sure to check your copy of the owner's manual for any specific information regarding flat towing your Outback Wagon.
