Upgrading to Larger 17-1/2 Inch Wheels

Question:

I am wanting to upgrade my wheels on a equipment trailer to 17.5 inch single wheels. my axles are 95 inch hub face to hub face. The 17.5 wheels that i see are 6.75inch wide which overall width would be 7.75inch and a zero offset would put me over 102 inch and the legal limit for the trailer. any advice or wheel recommendation would be appreciated.

I am a little confused where you are getting the 7-3/4 inches from on a 6-3/4 inch wide wheel. Even on a hub-piloted wheel the hub would still be near the center of the wheel. Would you possibly be able to explain a bit more where you got that number? Also, can you tell me what your wheel bolt pattern is as well as any capacity for tires you may need? If you aren't sure what your bolt pattern is or how to determine it I linked a help article for you to check out.

Can you tell me the back spacing on the lt2524sp 17.5 taskmaster wheel.

Expert Reply:

The backspacing of the Taskmaster Solid Center Wheel # TA45ZR is 3.875 inches.

It is possible to determine backspacing by taking the wheel width (6.75 inches) and adding 1 inch for both wheel lips (7.75) and then dividing that by 2 to give the backspacing of 3.875 inches.
