Safety Chains for Trailer With 10,000 lb GVWR

Question:
I just installed this T2478100 Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ - Drum - 2-5/16 inch Ball on a 10,000 lb gvw 28foot boat and trailer. I use a class IV hitch factory installed on a F350. When I use the safety chains, they attach to small holes on the hitch each side of the trailer ball. To me, these small plates with small safety chain holes look questionable. Should I assume they would hold in a breakaway for this size boat and trailer...or should I get longer safety chains that wrap around the class IV hitch itself? Thanks

Your safety chains should have a maximum gross trailer weight rating, which is what you would need to go by to ensure they are properly rated for your 10,000 lb GVWR trailer. If they are then you can attach them to your Ford hitch; wrapping them around the hitch itself won't give them added strength.
If you do need stronger chains I recommend taking a look at the Buyers Products 3/8" x 35" Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain w/ 1" Hook # 337B03835SC, which are made of carbon steel and have a gross trailer weight capacity of 10,000 lbs.
